Family Consumer Science prepares students to become positive, productive members of families, the workplace, and the community that equips students with essential skills for living through instruction in eight content areas:
child development and guidance
family living and parenting education
fashion, textiles and apparel
food and nutrition
housing and furnishings
individual and family health
The attitudes, skills, and knowledge learned in these content areas provide a basis for success in balancing home and work responsibilities as well as for transitioning to career pathways in related occupations.
FCCLA, the career technical student organization for students in FCS classes, provides leadership and career development opportunities. Through FCCLA, students learn interpersonal, leadership, citizenship and career skills for a successful future.
