Welcome to Graford ISD

Graford ISD is small 1-A District located West of the DFW metroplex in Palo Pinto County, Texas and serves approximately 350 students from grades prekindergarten through grade twelve.  Our district has one campus which gives us the sense of community we all want for our students. Our mission is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where parents and educators work to make a positive difference in the hearts and minds of all students so that they may achieve their highest potential in becoming productive citizens. Our goal is to provide engaging, appropriate experiences for students so that they learn and are able to apply their knowledge in ways that will enrich their lives and ensure their well-being.
Facts about our superintendent, Dennis Holt.
Dennis Holt

Dennis Holt was born in Wichita Falls, Texas and raised in Holliday, Texas. He graduated from Holliday High School in 1979. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Texas Tech University in 1985 and his Master of Education in Educational Administration from Texas Tech University in 1998. He began his career in education as a math teacher and coach.  His first teaching job was in Tahoka, Texas; from there, he taught and coached throughout the state making stops ranging from the D-FW metroplex to west Texas and finally to the panhandle of Texas.  After spending 14 years in the classroom, he began his career in administration as a campus principal in Tulia, Texas. In Tulia, he served as Junior High principal for 7 years and then 1 year as High School principal. In 2007 he was given his first superintendency when he was selected for the position in Lindsay, Texas. After 5 successful years Mr. Holt was given the opportunity to come to Graford ISD and he now enters his 10th year as district superintendent. Mr. Holt is married and his wife, Jane, is a retired educator who last served as lead educational diagnostician for the Denton ISD. The Holt's have two children, their daughter Niki is a graduate of New Mexico State University and is a teacher and head girl's basketball coach @ Rio Vista ISD. Their son Dawson is a graduate of the University of North Texas where he majored in real estate and business and currently works in the DFW metro-plex and he and his wife and daughter currently reside in Krum, TX.
At the January 27, 2022 School Board meeting, Mr Holt announced his intentions to retire from education after 37 years with the last 10 years leading the district at Graford ISD. Mr. Holt’s last day will be June 30, 2022 and his replacement will begin their duties on July 1, 2022. Good Luck in retirement Mr Holt and thank you for your service to our district and our students !!
